Hydrogen peroxide is a chemical compound with the formula H2O2. In its pure form, the liquid with an odor is slightly more viscous than water. Hydrogen peroxide is simple peroxide (a compound with an oxygen-oxygen single bond). It is used as an oxidizer, bleaching agent and disinfectant.
Application
Hydrogen Peroxide applications include: Bleaching and deodorizing of textiles, wood pulp, hair, fur, etc.; source of organic and inorganic peroxides; pulp and paper industry; plasticizers; rocket fuel; foam rubber; manufacture of glycerol; antichlor; dyeing; electroplating; antiseptic; laboratory reagent; epoxidation, hydroxylation, oxidation, and reduction; viscosity control for starch and cellulose derivatives; refining and cleaning metals; neutralizing agent in wine distillation; seed disinfectant; substitute for chlorine in water and sewage treatment.
Usage areas
Hydrogen Peroxide is a powerful, environmentally friendly oxidizing agent used in the bleaching, sterilization and chemical industries. It is a non-toxic, easily available and widely used liquid that can be destroyed without leaving any residue.
Hydrogen Peroxide is the preferred agent in natural cellulose and organic fibers. It is a substance that is beneficial for cotton, wool and silk, gives high bleaching and low fiber damage, but has minimal waste problems.
Today, it is used in aseptic packaging, food whitening and preservation, microbial control, hair products and pharmaceutical industry.
In swimming pool cleaning, shocking chemicals, deodorization and waste spillage are also useful in rivers and lagoons as an emergency measure. In many water applications, oxidation technologies developed with Ultraviolet radiation, ozone or metal catalysts are beneficial when used in combination with Hydrogen Peroxide. This form is strong hydroxyl radicals that degrade the taste and pungent odor of drinking water, remove colored dyes and a wide variety of organic impurities in textile wastes.
Safety
Keep away from sparks, hot surfaces, open flames and other heat sources. This product is a strong oxidizer and may cause fire or explosion. Wear fire/flame resistant clothing. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Keep away from combustible material. Causes severe skin burns and serious eye damage. Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling this product. Wash face, hands, and any exposed skin thoroughly after handling. Do not breathe vapors. This product is toxic if inhaled. If product comes in contact with skin or eyes, immediately flush with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.
